Irene Rader

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, October 16, 2015 at South Park Cemetery for Irene Rader, age 91, of Roswell, who passed away on October 13, 2015. Pastor Ron Rader will be officiating.

Irene was born August 20, 1924 in Bartlett, TX to William and Effie Jane Koke. As a toddler, they moved to Littlefield, TX, where she graduated from Littlefield High School in 1942. She received her Registered Nurse degree from West Texas School of Nursing in Lubbock, TX.

Irene married Eugene Rader upon his return from serving his country in Europe during WWII, on January 16, 1946 in Spade, TX. She worked as a nurse in both office and hospital settings from 1944 up to her retirement in 1974. She volunteered many years at the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center's Auxiliary Shop. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church for fifty-one years. Irene was always proud of her German and Texan roots. Everyone who met her knew that she was a "German-Texan Farm Girl".

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, of 41 years; her parents and seven siblings.

Irene is survived by her two sons, Ron and his wife Teri Rader; Robert and his wife Susan Rader; grandchildren, Kristina Harper (Greg), Shanda Rader-Casey (Becca), Zane, Logan, Austin and Rachel Rader; great grandchildren, Jonathan Rader and Michael Brinning; great great grandson, Jayden Brinning.

Pallbearers will be Ron Rader, Robert Rader, Tommy Terrell, Greg Harper, Zane Rader, Logan Rader and Austin Rader.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her caregivers who made it possible for her to stay in her home: Josie Martinez and Morima Vaughn from Comfort Keepers and private caregivers, Angela Avila and Shelby Morgan.

Memorials may be made in Irene's name to Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary Shop at 405 W Country Club Rd, Roswell, NM 88201.
