Jack Rodden

May 10, 1936 — December 6, 2016

Jack J Rodden went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Born and raised in Roswell, he attended Roswell High School and NMMI. Following his 2 years at NMMI, he attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C., receiving a Bachelor degree in International Affairs.

Following his father's death in 1963, he and his mother continued to operate Rodden's Photography which was started in Roswell in 1918 by his grandparents.
In 1967, he married Mary Vick, and in 1968 they moved to Dallas where he worked as a photographer for Gittings Neiman Marcus. He returned to Roswell in 1971 to reopen Rodden's Photography which he successfully operated until his retirement in 2012. He was a respected member of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain. Even though he retired, his picture taking days never ended. UFO Country, a book he recently published, contains a wide variety of his pictures of southeastern New Mexico.

Jack had a wide range of cultured interested including music, art, literature, and history. He was a self-proclaimed "Jack of all trades, master of none". He researched and learned how to do anything he needed to do.

Jack was a long standing member of the Rotary Club of Roswell with a perfect attendance record and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a Master Mason and member of the Roswell Masonic Lodge.

Jack served as a board member for the International UFO Museum and Research Center and spent many hours at the center supporting the administration and staff and promoting the museum.

But most importantly, Jack loved the Lord. He shared his passion for Jesus with all those he knew. Jack truly lived Proverbs 22:6. He instilled this love and passion in his children, and his faith legacy continues through his grandchildren.

Jack is preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Jack Rodden.

He is survived by his mother, Lois Esther Avery Rodden of Farwell, TX; wife of 49 years, Mary Vick Rodden; children Alison and her husband Curtis Fischer and children Heidi, Jennifer, and Jonathan of Grand Prairie, TX; Alisa and her husband Bruce Vandevender and children Leanne and Ryan of Las Cruces, NM; Paul Raymond Rodden and his wife Mary and son McCollum (Mac) of The Woodlands, TX. Other survivors include his sisters Nancy and her husband Richard McKinney, Susan and her husband Dale Moorman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
