Janet Bouton

May 22, 1953 — March 19, 2014

BOUTON, JANET LEE
Janet Lee Bouton, 60, passed away March 19, 2014. She was at home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Janet was the child of Delma and Rex Lee Jones. She was born in Pampa, Texas on May 22, 1953. She was raised in Guymon, Oklahoma with her sister Brandy Jones and brother TJ Pierce.
Janet and her husband, Wayne Bouton, moved to New Mexico in 1983. Working side by side as partners in every sense, they began and ran multiple businesses in Alamogordo, Roswell, Clovis, Portales and Artesia.
Janet and Wayne raised three daughters. Her influence and example can be seen in all three. Her greatest joy was in their accomplishments and happiness.
Janet lived a full life, full of laughter and experiences. She loved her family, friends, books, baths, margaritas and talking. Lots of talking. She took after her mother in that respect and is imitated in that by her daughters. The house gets very lively at holidays, vacations and family events with everyone vying for the spotlight and talking and laughing over one another. She could put together, figure out or fix anything. She got that from her father, in fact she was often called Little Rex. She was balanced and complemented by Wayne, who like her took pride in a job well done, creating a comfortable home and enjoying one anothers company after a hard days work. She traveled every year with her girlfriends from childhood, taking a trip and spending time embracing their friendship and lives. She recently found her artistic side, excelling at stained glass creation. She was strong, stubborn, determined, meticulous, brave, giving and kind.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, and mothersinlaw. She is survived by her husband Wayne Bouton, her daughters Mandy Bouton, Michele Billings, and Amy Nelson, her mother Delma Craig, her fathersinlaw Robert Bouton and Bob Craig, her sister Brandy Jones, her brother TJ Pierce, her soninlaw Kenny Billings and grandchildren Trace, Joslyn, and Kaley Billings, her in laws Anita and Kendall Brenholtz and their children, her aunt and uncle Clayda and David Parramore, her aunt Joyce Peaslee, many cousins and extended family and of course by her other sisters and family by right, The Guymon Girls.
There will be a viewing at LaGrone Funeral Chapel between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21 for friends and relatives. The service to celebrate Janets life is being held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. An internment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Oscar Hernandez Jr., Oscar Hernandez Sr., Kenny Billings, Wayne Delamater, Bill Armstrong and Richard DuPriest. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Bouton.
The family would like to thank all her friends for the support they have given. She was overwhelmed by the outpouring of cards, flowers, food, messages, calls, visits and prayers. She felt loved, appreciated and cherished. It gave her a glimpse into how many lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Janets name to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
