The famous Texas Legend Horned Toad, “Old Rip”, originally belonged to her father and was placed in the cornerstone of the Eastland Texas County courthouse building by his father E.E. Wood in 1897 and was found living years later when the building was replaced.

She is survived by her 3 children, Tanya Kraft and husband Richard Kraft of Roswell, NM; Tony Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Flower Mound, TX; David Johnson and Kellie Sorenson Kross of Dallas, TX.  Jan had 8 grandchildren; Devin Kraft, Kelsey Kraft Gass (and her husband Wesley); Brooks Johnson (and his wife Kristin), Matthew Johnson (and his wife Anna), and Sarah Johnson; Courtney Johnson Carlton (and her husband Bo), Blake Johnson (and his wife Kelsey) and Kelli Johnson (and her fiancé Chance Weeks-Williams).  She had five great-grandchildren, Jack, Blair and Reese Carlton (Courtney) and Briella Johnson (Brooks) and Cooper Johnson (Matt).

The family is sincerely grateful for the compassionate care given by the Encompass Hospice Nurses and the personnel at Peachtree Retirement Village and Beehive Assisted Living Home in Roswell NM.

A private family service will be held in her honor.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to: Operation School Bell, C/O Assistance League of Chaves County, PO BOX 1324, Roswell, NM  88202.
