A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, September 28, 2015 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for J.B. Busby, age 90, of Roswell, who passed away on September 22, 2015. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
J.B. Busby was born in Healdton, Oklahoma on September 14, 1925 to Jessie Melvin and Minnie P. Busby.
He moved to New Mexico at a young age. He lived and worked the majority of his life in Roswell, NM. By the age of 10, he was doing a man's work and continued to do so for the rest of his life. He helped his father on the farm and at a service station. He would earned extra money by trapping and selling hides. He could do anything he set his mind to; he would always figure it out. J. B. was working as a mechanic in Dexter, NM when he met Frances Sparks. They married and spent the next 63 years together, raising and caring for their family. J. B. opened his own garage in Roswell in the 1950s, known as Busby's Auto Service on McGaffey Street. He unconditionally supported his entire family, who consisted of his wife, six children, mother-in-law, mother, and sometimes his father. He was always there for any of his children. J. B. took care of his parents until their passing, and he cared for his wife right up to the end. J. B. loved animals. He always had a dog or cat as a companion. He prized his horses and was a great rider. He raised cows, pigs, and goats on his place northeast of Roswell, NM. He also loved to grow things. He planted all kinds of fruit and nut trees around his place and spent many hours tending them. He tried to keep a garden going throughout the years to feed his family. He spent his life imparting knowledge, providing for, and taking care of those he loved. He will be greatly missed.
J.B. is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frances Busby.
He is survived by his six children; son, Blaine Busby and his wife Linda of Roswell, NM; daughters, Cathy Clark of Roswell, NM; Barb Feldman and her partner Duane of Mechanicsville, VA; Judy Richards of Richmond, VA; Linda Gregory and her husband Dave of Leander, TX; Shaun Busby of Roswell, NM; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael, David, Garrick, Jarrod, Jeremy and Ian, his granddaughters, Michelle, Brandy, Sarah, Niki, Keli, Jennifer and his good friend and honorary "other" son, Bob Smith.
