LANGENEGGER, JEANNE MARIE MICHELET- Jeanne Marie Michelet Langenegger, 91 of Hagerman, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2015. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hagerman with the Rev. Stephen Deutsch officiating.
Jeanne was born in Hagerman on February 27, 1923, the oldest daughter of Pecos Valley pioneers, James and Jeannette Jacobson Michelet. In 1941, she graduated from Hagerman High School and married Vernon Greer. They were blessed with a daughter, Verna Jeanne. While serving in the Philippines during WWII, Vernon was killed in 1943. After the war, on November 28, 1946, Jeanne married James G. Langenegger and to this union Peter John and Julann were born. Jeanne and Jim were married for 52 wonderful years until Jim's sudden passing in 1999.
Jeanne was a loving mother and wife, and was very active in the Hagerman community throughout the years serving as President for the Hagerman PTA, the America Legion Auxiliary, the Ella Hedges Church Circle and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Service Organization. She also served as Worthy Matron of Harmony Chapter #17 Order of the Eastern Star, Mother Advisor for Hagerman Assembly #34 Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Sunday School teacher and senior class parent for the 1959, 1976 and 1979 graduating classes. She helped chaperone numerous school activities and trips for her children. Jeanne has been a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hagerman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon Greer; husband Jim Langenegger; and sister Lucille Michelet Mayberry.
Survivors include her daughter Verna, and husband Arnold Taylor of Artesia; son Pete Langenegger of Dallas, Texas; daughter Julann and husband Bruce Curlee of Lubbock; a sister, Margaret Choat of Roswell; grandchildren Scott Taylor of Carrollton, Texas; Brian Taylor and wife Jennifer, of Artesia; and Brianne Curlee and Neil Curlee, both of Lubbock, Texas; great-grand children Trent, Nathan and Brylan Taylor, all of Artesia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Hagerman, P. O. Box 367, Hagerman, NM 88232, or to your favorite charity.
