CULLINS, JERRY DONFuneral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Jerry Don Cullins, age 68 of Roswell, New Mexico who passed away at Lovelace Heart Hospital on March 26, 2013, with the love of his life by his side. Rev. Richard
Smith will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.
Jerry was born August 28, 1944 in Roswell to Luther Cullins and Myrtia Williams Cullins. They have preceded him in death as well as a brother, Leon Cullins, sisters, Dean Daugherty and Joyce Sartin.
On March 8, 1965 Jerry married Barbara Whitworth in Roswell. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years.
Jerry is also survived by his three children, two sons Jacob Cullins of Roswell, and Jimmy Cullins of Las Cruces one daughter, Vanessa Luiz and her husband Joe of Hagerman. Grandchildren Shelby Luiz, Garrett Luiz, JohnRiley Luiz, Justin Cullins of Roswell and Kyle Cullins of Albuquerque. Brothers, Luther J. Cullins, Sonny Cullins and his wife Bonnie of Weatherford, Texas. Sisters Penny Werner and her husband Robert of Hawthorne, California, Fay Thrasher and her husband Reg of Santa Paula, California. Brotherinlaw Wesley Whitworth and his wife Modesta. Sisterinlaw Angline Carroll and her husband Roy. Motherinlaw, Velma Ricciardi. Numerous nieces, nephews and best friend Glenn Barnett.
Jerry was raised on the family farm in Roswell. In April of 1962 when he was 18 he joined the Army. Jerry was a rancher most of his life. In 1989 he went into construction, where he was a Heavy Equipment Operator. He retired in 2003.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren, who loved him so much. Jerry loved four wheeling and bowling. He loved barbeques with family and friends.
Jerry was a great Husband, Dad, Papa and friend. He was always there no matter what. His favorite time of the year was Christmas, Easter and hunting season.
Pallbearers will be Jake Cullins, Joe Luiz, Glenn Barnett, Roy Carroll, Mike Gallagher, Terry Gallagher, Kelly Leslie and Billy Ricciard. Honorary Pallbearers are his Five Grandchildren, Sonny Cullins, Wesley Whitworth, Austin Carroll, ZT Lyles, Daniel Martinez, Eric Martinez, Tommy Barnett and Kyle Barnett.
