Jerry Frazier

March 22, 1931 — January 28, 2012

Jerry Earl Frazier was born on March 22, 1931 in Arp, Texas. He passed away at La Villa Assisted Living on January 28, 2012 from complications of a long and hard fought battle with Alzheimers disease Services have been scheduled at 1:00 P. M., Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Reverend Cecil Kimberlin, Chaplian of Vista Care Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery with Masonic Rites conducted by the Roswell Masonic Lodge 18.
Jerry was an infant when his parents, Earl and Opal Frazier moved their family to Melrose, New Mexico. Jerry grew up working on the farm and attending school. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1949. He played football, basketball and ran track. During his senior year there was a pretty young girl named Claudine Gunnels that would watch from the bleachers at the ball games thinking to herself how cute this boy named Jerry was and that she would never have a chance with someone so handsome and popular, but he soon saw her and they were married September 9, 1950.
In 1951, Jerry started working for the New Mexico State Highway Department. He received his Civil Engineering Degree in 1959. He worked as an Engineering Inspector and the District 2 Laboratory Supervisor until his retirement in 1986.
Jerry and Claudine loved to travel after his retirement. They went on several cruises but their favorite was hitching up their travel trailer and heading to South Texas where they enjoyed making new friends, fishing, bingo and dancing. Their travel adventures came to an end when Claudine, his wife of 56 years passed away in 2006.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Opal Frazier and his younger sister, Louise Frazier Widner.
Jerry is survived by three children: Delia Dyess and husband Eddie of Roswell, Randy Frazier and wife Christine of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Michael Frazier and wife Yvette of Mission, Texas. He is also survived by two sisters and a brotherinlaw, Juanita Richards and husband Joe of Clovis, New Mexico, Esther Dodd of Melrose, New Mexico and Dale Widner of Friona, Texas.
Also surviving are grandchildren Tyler Dyess and wife Susanne of Aurora, Colorado, Timothy Frazier of Ft. Worth, Texas, Amanda Frazier and fianc Peyton McCurry of Keller, Texas, Madison and Mallory Frazier of Keller, Texas and Sydney Frazier of Mission, Texas. Great Grandchildren Karma and Memphis Dyess of Aurora, Colorado and unborn Karzyn McCurry of Keller, Texas. Jerry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and one very special niece that became more like a daughter to him than a niece, Lesa Dodd.
Jerry was a member of the Methodist Church and loved being an usher at the First United Methodist Church in Roswell. He was very active in the Masonic Lodge and was the Worshipful Master of Roswell Lodge 18 in 1974. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason , and a Shriner,
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving compassionate care that Jerry was given by his favorite doctor, Dr. Amna Feroze, all the Staff and care givers at La Villa Assisted Living and to Vista Care Hospice. A warm hearted thank you to his special friend, Loretta Tarpley for always being there and taking care of him.
