JESSIE HARPER ROSE Nana Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012 at South Park Cemetery for Jessie Harper Rose, age 92 of Roswell, NM who passed away on June 26, 2012. Minister Kendall Tomlinson of Church of Christ will officiate.
Jessie was born on November 9, 1919 in Happy, Texas to Melvin Daniel Wilson and wife Louella Pugh Wilson. They have preceded her in death as well as all eight of her siblings, Moretta Graves, Lucille Haynes, Mozzell Scruggs, Woodrow Woody, Douglas, Marvin Newt, Billie Joe Dutch and Frank Lewis Wilson.
Jessie married Floyd Harper whom she was married to over 50 years who preceded her in death in 1996. She then remarried in 1999 to Jack E. Rose, Sr.
Who survives her in Phoenix, AZ.
She is also survived by her five children: Melvin Williams and his wife Christine of Silver City, New Mexico, Loretta Wanda Jean Dent of Roswell, Floyd DeWayne Harper of Roswell, Bobby LaVern Harper and his wife Fae of Ruidoso, Milton Council Harper of Roswell grandchildren, Melvin Ray, Nonis, Melissa, Heidi, Amy Rymer and her husband Bob McAlister of OK, Jennifer Tomlinson and her husband Kendall of Stanton, TX, Brandon Dent and his wife Anna of Perth, Australia, Brad Harper and his wife LuGina of Los Lunas, NM, Robbie Harper and his wife Francine of Gilbert, AZ, Shelly Montgomery and her husband Wes of Roswell, Lee Harper and his wife Ellen of Roswell, Milton Harper and his wife Kelly of Roswell, Millicent Bundick and her husband Jeremy of San Angelo, TX, Brandon Harper of Roswell, Bryce Harper of Roswell , 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren two sister in law: Ala Mae Wilson of Rio Rancho, NM and Erica Wilson of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was baptized into Christ in her youth and served faithfully until the Lord called her home. Her church home was West Alameda Church of Christ. Besides being a full time housewife and mother she also worked at the food counters of Woolworth and Kress Five and Dime stores, when downtown Roswell was live and thriving. She retired from the RSID doing cafeteria duties. She loved doing her crafts. Made many heirlooms like porcelain dolls, loved crocheting, sewing, canning and visiting with her friends, singing and playing solitaire.
The family would like to especially thank the quality care given to her while staying at Martins Casasiesta: Martin, Lorena Carrillo, Lisa Grant, nurse, and aids Lettie and Brenda. We would also like to thank Vista Care Hospice.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Portales Childrens Home, 1356 NM HWY 236, Portales, NM 88130.
