Joan M. Nealis passed away Saturday, October 16th, 2021, at 99 years young.
Mema, as we all knew her, was a feisty good person who did it her way for so very long. From being a WAVE in the Navy during World War II up to driving until she was 96 years old, no task was too big or too small. She was always first to lend an ear or a hand, or pass advice, as she had experience having lived through everything. Joan was a fixture on Pine Street in Roswell, residing there from 1957 to 2020, working in her garden and tending to her dogs and cats across the years.
Always one to participate in discussions and a distinctive laugh whenever the occasion arose. Most of all, she did it her way for her entire life in a good wholesome attitude of get it done. She will be missed by many.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, George R Nealis in 2004. She is survived by her son, Timothy Nealis and wife Judy of Temple City, California, daughter Kelli Susan Mang of Roswell, New Mexico, two grandsons, William and wife Jennifer Mang of Roswell, New Mexico and Timothy Mang of Colorado Springs, Colorado as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
