RHODES, JOHN MJ .A funeral service is scheduled for 9:30 AM, Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Hagerman, for John MJ Rhodes, age 86 of Hagerman, who passed away June 13, 2012. Pastor Stephen Deutsch of First Presbyterian Church will officiate with interment to follow at the Hagerman Cemetery. Honors will be provided by the Masons and the Veterans Honor Guard.

MJ was born June 18, 1925 in Hagerman, NM. MJ married Bertha Lawing on September 11, 1948 in Hagerman, NM. She survives him at the family home.

Other survivors include a daughter: Paula DornBlaser and her husband of Roswell granddaughter: Amy Mathews and a great granddaughter, Molly Mathews.

MJ was a farmer. He served his country in the United States Navy in WWII. MJ was a drag racer, he was a member of the Hagerman Car Club, Felix Masonic Lodge 29 of Hagerman, York Rite, Shriners and Little Hookers, drove the Model T Fire Truck during the parades, Order of Eastern Star 8. He was a fiddler and participated in contests. He was also the chairman of the Eastern New Mexico State Fair Fiddler Contest.

Pallbearers will be the Masons.
