John Scott

SCOTT, JOHN RAYMOND RAY Memorial Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, June 4, 2010 at Bykota Baptist Church for John Raymond Scott, age 53 of Roswell, who passed away May 26, 2010 in Roswell. Rev. Don Johnson of Bykota Baptist Church will conduct the service.

John was born January 25, 1957 in Galveston, Texas to John M. and Sybil DeGreene Scott. Both parents have preceded him in death.

John was a member of Bykota Baptist Church. He was a father to many besides his two sons and daughter. He worked all of his life to support his family and eventually himself. He helped out many people he called friend and even some he did not. He began his adult life working as a maintenance man at Belair General Hospital in Houston. In 1978, he moved to Roswell with his wife and kids to start a fresh, new life. He ran a service station for a number of years and got to know many people in Roswell. He then worked for Stevens Operating up to the point they ran out of business. He still taking care of the property he works on until his death. He worked as a maintenance man for several smaller companies over the following years, eventually helping his good friend with his auto mechanics business. The last several years of his life, he touched many people and grew a pretty good, extended family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, hanging with the boys at the garage, he liked going to the strip and watching the drag races, and he liked just poking in the boonies hunting.

Survivors include 2 sons Christopher Scott and his wife Lynell of Tishamingo, OK, and John Scott and his wife Sarah of Roswell 1 daughter Mari ScottCihiy and her husband John of Dexter. Also surviving are 2 brothers Robert Scott of Boise. Idaho and Roy Scott of Centerville, TX, 6 grandchildren, and several close friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Whitlock and Skipper families for helping our dad out the past several years. You did more than you think, and it is appreciated.
