John Talbott

TALBOTT, JOHN -- Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2007 at South Park cemetery with Masonic Rites by the Masonic Low 12 Club. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, for John Talbott, age 81, of Roswell, who passed away early Wednesday morning at his home. Marno, his wife of 54 years was at his side. Rev. Tracy Spencer-Brown will officiate.

John Talbott was born on August 29, 1925,to Glen and Edith Talbott in Montgomery County, Iowa. He graduated from Elliott High School, in Elliott, Iowa. He immediately enlisted in the United States Navy and served until the end of World War II. Upon his release from the Navy, he became an automotive parts salesman, and this was his lifes career.

John and Marno Johnson were married on June 29, 1952, in Bladen, Nebraska. They lived in Lexington, Lincoln, and North Platte, Nebraska, before moving to Roswell, New Mexico in 1956. John called on farmers, independent repair shops, and automotive dealers to supply the parts they needed. He drank many cups of coffee, while visiting with friends, who were his customers. John was first employed by Central Auto Electric, Denver, Colorado. In 1960, he was employed by Spitzer Automotive, and traveled the Pecos Valley and the Hondo Valley for 35 years. He retired in 1995.

John is survived by his wife, Marno; son, Kim Talbott and wife, Bonnie; daughter, Lynne Dunlap and husband, Bryant; sister Bonnie Williams and husband Darrell; granddaughter, Sabrina Moody and her husband Levi; grandson Channon Turnbow and fianc Ashey Cych; granddaughter, Hope Turnbow and companion, Krystle Fitzwater; step-grandchildren, Cory Dunlap, Lacy Duran and husband Ricardo, and Lisa Dunlap; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Kylee Moody, Samantha Duran and Damian Apodaca; He is also survived by sister-in-laws, Vonda Kapke and husband Fay, and Verna Kaufman and her husband Ed and numerous nieces and nephews in Nebraska and Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his dear grandson Damon Talbott, his parents, Glen and Edith Talbott of Iowa, and his parents-in-laws, Norman and Maxine Johnson of Nebraska.

John was an Elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a Past Master of Masonic Roswell Lodge 18 and also Past Master of Roswell Daylight Lodge 79.
