KOPP, JOHNNIE PAULINE WALKER Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 14, 2010 at South Park Cemetery for Johnnie Walker Kopp, age 87, of Roswell, who left this earth to be with the Lord on May 10, 2010. Pastor Tim Arlett of First Christian Church will officiate.
Visitation will be held at LaGrone Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Johnnie was born on May 30, 1922 to John Joseph Walker and Cassie Anna Walker in Clovis, New Mexico. They have preceded her in death as well as her husband Robert, brothers: Charles, Dennis, and Dale sisters Edna, Bea and Mildred.
Johnnie was the youngest of seven children. Pauline, as she was known in her youth, grew up in Clovis and graduated from Clovis High School in 1940. She did various work in Clovis and Tucumcari until she moved to Roswell in 1943 when she went to work at Roswell Army Air Field. This is where she met her husband of 62 years, Robert Kopp, who had been transferred to Roswell from the South Pacific Theater of World War II in 1943. They were married June 14, 1944. She continued working at the base until shortly before their only son, Phillip Joseph Kopp, was born in July 1950. Over the years, while staying home raising her son, she became involved with various organizations and activities. She became an accomplished artist, producing a large number of paintings, some still remaining in the estate, while many others were sold to buyers from Roswell and other cities in New Mexico and also other states. Johnnie enjoyed playing cards and was a longtime Bridge player at the Roswell Adult and Senior Center. She also enjoyed nature and the outdoors, going to the mountains, visiting national parks, and travelling through Canada and Alaska. She always took her camera to take photos of the scenery for ideas for future paintings. She and her husband took part in RAAFWalker Air Force Base Reunions for many years. Johnnie was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She and her family have been longtime members of the First Christian Church. She was always very strong in her Christian faith through the years.
She is survived by her son Phillip of Roswell, granddaughter Allison Gallen and her husband Jon, and great grandson, Sean Matthew Gallen, of Anchorage Alaska, grandson, Colin Kopp of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Many, many thanks are extended to Pauline Ramirez, who helped Johnnie
and Robert for many years, the members of The First Christian Church who have provided the family with much comfort and support, The staff of Roswell Regional Hospital who gave Johnnie outstanding service, and the Staff of Vista Care Hospice who were totally devoted and gave her first class love, care, and service during her final months.

My Treasures Are Secure
The treasures of this earth will perish,
For they never can endure,
Safely in the arms of Jesus,
All my treasures are secure.
The burdens of this life are many,
But I try to wear a smile,
For when the load becomes too heavy,
He will carry me a while.
Though I may be old and lonely,
And earths treasures may be few,
Theres a mansion up in heaven,
Loved ones there are waiting too.
Christ will give me strength and courage
As I journey through the years.
And someday in heavens glory,
He will wipe away my tears.
When I walk the hills of glory,
And I see the beauty there,
In the storehouse of the Father,
Treasures far beyond compare.
