Josephine Stacey, age 94, passed away peacefully, on April 2, 2022, with her children by her side.
Josephine was born in Glencoe, NM on July 3, 1927, to Teodoro and Telesfora Peña. She graduated from Hondo High School as Valedictorian of her Class of 1947.
She worked helping her parents on the farm and apple orchards. She was working the apple stand in Hondo and met the love of her life, Eugene Stacey. They were married on September 17, 1956 and moved to Alamogordo to start their family. In 1959, they moved to Roswell. They were blessed with 4 children. In 1970, Josephine lost her husband and was at home with 4 small children. With her being the strong and determined woman that she was, she raised her children all by herself. She always said that she wasn’t ever going to have anyone tell her how to raise her kids. She was an amazing wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The love that she always had for her family was just unbelievable.
