Joy Burke

BURKE, JOY - A memorial service for Joy Burke, age 89 will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Highland Baptist Church. Inurnment will be at South Park Cemetery Pastor Charles Grossage officiating. The New Mexico State Police will be providing escort for Joy. Joy passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 in Roswell, NM.

Joy has so many passions in life, especially the ones she was able to share with her children, grandchildren and friends alike. There was not a campground in the state that she couldn't count every flower and tree within.

Her love for life was an inherited tradition for everyone that was there to share with her. The love for her church along with all members was her life. She loved participating in any and all events involving her kids and grandkids alike. She was a wonderful seamstress that blessed everyone something she created on her sewing machine or by hand. Her home was always open for all, anytime, any day with the warmest of hospitality.

Her biscuits and stories from most forgotten events were there for us to enjoy. She is now reunited with husband Leroy of 50 years to pick up where they left off in 1996 to travel, fish and relish the golden sunsets they shared together for so many years. We all love you mom (granny) and will miss your smiling face along with all the love you possessed for us to warm our lives.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Buke; parents Theodore Carter and Ruby Havard Carter; brothers, Joe, Bill, and Darwin Carter; grandsons, Timmy Burke, Shane Burke and great grandson, Nick Burke.
Those left to cherish Joy's memory are, sons, Keith Burke of McAlister, OK; Kenny Buke of Roswell, NM; and Ted Burke of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Becky Robertson of Kalispell, MT. Joy was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.

The family would like memorial contributions made in honor of Joy to the Joy Center.
