MANKE, JOYCE - Joyce Manke, of Roswell, NM passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the age of 87. She was born in Snoqualmie Falls, Washington on March 9th, 1931 to William Stem and Ernestine Riddel. Both of her parents have preceded her in death.
Joyce found her fame as an extra in several movies. Even though her parts were typically only a few seconds long the conversational "ice-breaker" that these experiences granted her gave her a smile. In addition to these quick moments she also loved the theater and participated in numerous stage plays and productions. She returned to school later in life and received her Associates Degree, at the age 55. Aside from movie parts, theater performances and academics she had a sharp eye and talented hand which gave her the ability to create works of original art. Her love of painting was fostered even from a young age by a willingness to learn and study. She dedicated her time to transform her craft from more than just a fleeting interest into a tangible and constructive hobby. After coming to Roswell in 1996 she joined the Roswell Fine Arts League.
Joyce was a radiant soul whose dedication to her family is reflected in her children and husband. Her compassion and unconditional love is the legacy her family will carry on, passing down from one generation to the next.
Joyce is survived by her children, Marcia, Bonnie, Douglas, and James; husband Donald Manke; brother Bill in California; and a sister Wilma in Massachusetts. She is preceded in death by her Mother and Father.
Funeral service will be held on at Westminster Church on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.
For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.
