MARTIN, JUANITA L. NITA No services are scheduled at this time for Nita Martin, age 88, of Roswell, who passed away July 30, 2010 in Clovis, New Mexico.

Nita was born on January 31, 1922 in McLave, Colorado to Neal and Dixie Dacy. They have preceded her in death.

She married William B. Martin on August 19, 1965 in Idaho. He has also preceded her in death. She moved to Roswell in 1993.

She is survived by two sons: James A. Ketter of Wichita, Kansas and Richard W. Keeter of Wichita, Kansas three daughters: Dixie Owings of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Sheri SmileyJurney of Roswell, New Mexico and Lea Ann Martin of Topeka, Kansas grandchildren: Greg Geier, who preceded her in death, Daryn Keeter and Chris Keeter of Wichita, Kansas and Leslie Perez, Chris and Justin Smiley of Roswell, New Mexico and Anthony Romero who also preceded her in death.

Nita was a true lady from a bygone era. She had a refinement that was obvious to those who were privileged to have known her. Upon meeting Nita most were taken by what a beautiful woman she was in fact all her life she was known for her great beauty and as she grew older she became more beautiful because she never lost her pilgrim spirit and childlike wonder of the world. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling the highways and back roads of the American Great Plains and Southwest. She was in love with the sights and sounds of nature as well as the beauty of the heavens above. Her talents and pastimes were many, she loved to fish and could roller skate, she liked a good joke, a beautifully kept home and the way a strand of pearls looked against a great tan. She met the challenges of life and all its sorrows and delights without smudging her lipstick or mussing her hair. Her renaissance spirit will be sorely missed by the people who have known and loved her. Her motto was put on a little lipstick and everything will be all right.
