Juanita Stiff

STIFF, JUANITA SINGER A Private Memorial will be held for Juanita Singer Stiff who passed away January 10, 2010 in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 83. She was born in Memphis, TX on January 5, 1927 to T. A. and Mary Lou Ann Ann Surls Singer. Juanita spent her early years in Dimmitt, TX and Roswell, NM.

She attended college on a vocal scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from North Texas State University in 1949. After college, Juanita chose Roswell to be her home and worked as a secretary and a voice teacher. In 1951, Juanita and Glenn Stiff were married. They had two children, Glenn Garland Jr., and Carolyn Ann.

Juanita was an active Roswell community volunteer in the Assistance League, Parent Teacher Association, Cub Scout Leader and various community funding drives.

Juanita pursued her literary and fine arts interests through: Shakespeare Club, Great Books discussion groups, Symphony Guild projects and served as a past president of the Roswell Symphony Board of Directors.

One of Juanitas passions was contemporary art. She has served as a trustee of the Roswell Museum and Art Center, and as a board member of the Roswell Museum and Art Center, and as a board member of the Roswell Museum and Art Center Foundation and the Roswell Artist in Residence Foundation.

Juanita was a dedicated wife, loving mother, patron of the arts, and a benevolent supporter of the artists from the Roswell Artist in Residence program.

She is survived by her daughter and soninlaw, Carolyn and Jay Nunnally, her grandson, Jay, her granddaughter and grandsoninlaw, Katie and Kasey Kistner, her great grandson, Korey and a host of special friends.

She is preceded in death by her son and her husband.
