June C. Thompson, who passed away December 13, 2006 at her home in Roswell, will have funeral services at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 16, 2006, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Dr. Onsy Whicker and Dr. Geary Miller, of Tabernacle Baptist Church will conduct the service assisted by Elmer Whitehead, Jr., son-in-law and Pastor of The Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
She was born May 21, 1923 in Hope, New Mexico to D. W. and Jimmie Irene Bragg Carson. Her parents preceded her in death, as well as an infant great-granddaughter, Leah Elizabeth Sanders, and an infant daughter Tonya Kay Thompson.
She married Deward F. Thompson, on June 12, 1943, in Portales, NM. He survives her at the family home.
Other survivors include 3 daughters, whom she taught through her example and love for the Lord and for each of them; Oretta Graves and her husband Tommy, of Roswell, Lawanna Whitehead and her husband Elmer of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, and Yvonne Graves and husband Bobby of Hobbs, New Mexico. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers, D. W. Carson of Sierra Blanca, Texas and Jeri Lynn Carson and his wife Linda of Chandler, AZ.
June was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was loved by her church family, and loved and served the church gladly. She served the Senior ladies at the Church. She was an active member of the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Auxiliary, as long as her health permitted.
She was a fun and gracious neighbor, she helped organize games and luncheons for the residents of Sunny Acres.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Danny Letcher, Jeff Martin, Larry McGregor, Bob Graves, Steve Foster, Tim Whitehead, Eric Sanders and brother-in-law, Melvin Littlejohn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Veterans and wives Sunday school class of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
