Services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17th, 2007, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Kenneth Doyle Maxwell, 83, of Roswell. Doyle entered into eternal life Tuesday, February 13th, 2007. Pastors Onsy Whicker and Ben Talley will officiate. Music selections will be performed by Mrs. Billie King Ray, a dear friend of the family.

Doyle was born July 8, 1923 in Gail, Texas to Edwood Guy and Ollie Roberts Maxwell. The youngest of eight children, he was raised in Leveland, Texas until his family moved to Clovis, N.M in 1934 where he attended school fifth through twelfth grade.

He married Billie L. Lewis April 12, 1947 in Clovis, New Mexico. They were married for 54 years until her death January 30, 2002. Doyle was preceded in death by his son, Michael D. Maxwell who passed away January 10, 2007.

Doyle loved the Lord. He accepted Jesus as his personal savior at the age of 10 and was of the Baptist faith. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1950. During these years, he taught Sunday school, training union, R.A.s Royal Ambassadors, served as an usher, substitute bus driver and was on the finance committee.

On May 8, 1944, Doyle entered the Navy where he served his country as an Apprentice Seaman and was soon promoted to Carpenters Mate Second Class. He met Jack Hartman while in the Navy. They stayed in touch through the years and remained lifelong friends. He was stationed in Hawaii until he was discharged January 14, 1946 at Treasure Island, California.

Doyle was a well-known businessman in Roswell where he owned and operated Maxwell House Movers and Maxwell Rentals. He established his housemoving business in Clovis, N.M. in 1947. He moved houses in Clovis until 1950 when he moved to Roswell. In 1954 he moved his business to Alamogordo, NM and then to Spokane, WA in 1955 where he was contracted to move 350 units of houses. While in Washington, he loaded a house on a barge and moved it 50 miles up the Columbia River. Doyle returned to Roswell in 1957 and continued his housemoving business until he retired in 1984 to take care of his rental properties. Ms. Linda Stockley Weiler of Roswell composed a book entitled Relocated Houses of Roswell with many pictures and stories of the houses Doyle relocated in the Roswell area. He served as the President of the Housemovers Association of New Mexico.
