KIRBY FAYE MOORE

The family of Kirby Moore is celebrating that on January 19, 2024, at the age

of 84, Kirby entered into the presence of our Lord and was reunited with her

husband, Derry Moore, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Kirby was

born in Tucumcari, New Mexico on August 12, 1939 to Robert Crocker and

Edith (Head) Crocker.

Kirby and Derry met in a square dancing class at Eastern New Mexico

University. They fell in love, married on August 24, 1958, and moved to

Roswell where they raised a family and lived happily for over 60 years.

Kirby was a librarian at Monterrey Elementary School in Roswell for almost

30 years. She loved reading books to children, especially to all six of her

grandchildren.

Kirby and Derry were active members of the Roswell First Baptist Church

where they enjoyed many cherished friendships. Kirby taught Sunday School

and Vacation Bible School for many years.

Kirby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Derry and by her

son Steve Moore who passed away on December 9, 2023.

Kirby is survived by her daughter Sherri Toles (Perry) of Roswell, her son

Jon Moore (Franny) of Farmington and her 6 grandchildren: Joshua Toles of

Denver, Jordan Toles (Savanna) of Roswell, Shelby Toles of Austin, Megan

Adams (Rick) of Albuquerque, Cysco Moore (Carissa) of Dallas and Jadin

Moore of Albuquerque, all of whom called her “Mimi.” Kirby is also

survived by a brother, James Crocker, of Tucumcari.

The family would like to thank the caring staff from Gentiva Hospice and

Beehive Homes where Kirby lived for the past 18 months.

A private burial at South Park Cemetery is being planned for the immediate

family.
