She had one brother and one sister.BRBRShe graduated from Cayuga Lake Academy as Valedictorian of her class of 1931. In June, 1934, Laura was a graduate of the three year Elementary Teacher Prepatory Course of Cortland Normal School in Cortland, New York. At that time there was no public kindergarten, so the children entered first grade directly from their childhood experiences. She said that she had much joy in seeing the development in these children. Through this time, she was a faithful and active member of the Methodist Church.BRBRIn 1982, Mrs. Brown married Rev. Eric R. King at Au Sable Forks, New York. He survives her at the family home.BRBROther survivors include 2 sons; Selden Brown, Jr., and William W. Brown and a daughter; Audrey Godlewski. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren call her blessed and so does her Lord whom she tried to serve. It appears that my days are numbered, that my death is imminent.BR Im not sure Im ready to die. Life has been good, and Im reluctant to surrender it. But I know that death comes to everyone, sooner or later.BR Thank you, God, for the years I have been privileged to live and enjoy. Thank you, too, for the hope that death is not the end of lifethat somehow, in a way beyond my comprehension, I will continue to live with you, live on in the memory of my loved ones, and be reunited with those who already have entered that new form of life.BR Please comfort those nearest and dearest to me with the assurance that I love them, that I know they love me, that some day we shall meet again, and that you will keepBRthem through their difficult days of transitions to comeAmenBRBRArrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
