Huddle, Lawrence C. - Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Lawrence C. Huddle, 81, of Roswell, who passed away May 17, 2007, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. The Rev. Max Alexander of Putnam City Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, OK, and the Rev. Rick Hale of Grace Community Church will conduct the service. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.BRLawrence was born on January 22, 1926, in Lamesa, Texas, to Dee and Lissie Mae Williams Huddle. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.BR BRHe married JoAnn Meler on June 29, 1951, in Shawnee, OK. She survives him at the family home.BR BROther survivors include a son, Mark Huddle and his wife Liz of Roswell, and a daughter, Marcee Little and her husband Dave of New Castle, Colorado. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jonathan Little, Allyssa Little, Meagan Huddle, Amanda Owens and her husband, Jason, and Tiffany Cloud and her husband, Jarred, and three great-grandchildren, Remington Owens, Addison Cloud and Hunter Owens, and in-laws, Zeke and Wanda Zellmer.BR BRPallbearers will be Jake Sides, JJ Jenkins, Jonathan Little, Jason Owens, Jarred Cloud, and Zach Bradshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Lawrences Sunday School class and the Deacons of First Baptist Church.BR BRLawrence was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. His love for learning and for the Word of God was evident in his life, both in his attendance at a Thursday afternoon Bible Study with pastor Rick Hale for many years, and in his longtime involvement in Community Bible Study. He never stopped learning and spent time each morning studying the Bible. BR BRLawrence spent more than 30 years in the Roswell Independent School District as a public school teacher and touched the lives of hundreds of children. He cared about each of his students and enjoyed hearing how their lives turned out.BR BRHe and his wife, JoAnn, enjoyed traveling and his favorite place to visit was Hawaii. He enjoyed walking on the beaches with JoAnn and took all his children and grandchildren there. He also loved to laugh and share jokes, and always had a twinkle in his eye.BR BRHis family was a source of great delight for him, and he was very proud of his son, Mark, and his daughter, Marcee and their families. He enjoyed spending time with them and traveling with them. BR BRLawrence has left a legacy of love for learning, a quest for knowledge, and a passion for the Lord to his children and his grandchildren that will endure for generations to come.BR BRFriends may pay respects online at www.lagronefuneralchapels.com.
