TALBERT, LEONARD BELL- A memorial service to honour our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend , Leonard Bell Talbert, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church. Leonard , age 80 of Roswell, passed away April 6, 2007 at his residence. Rev. Don Johnson, of BYKOTA Baptist Church will officiate.
Leonard was born on September 20, 1926 in Moore County, North Carolina to Causey Happy and Mary Simmons Talbert. They both preceded him in death, as well as brothers, Charles, Frank, and Edgar Talbert. sisters Ethel Spangler, Lilly Williamson, Annie Yonkers and Esther Reynolds and son-in-law James Paul Green.
He married Clara May Middleton on February 9, 1950 in Hot Springs, New Mexico. She survives him at the family home.
Survivors include five children; Mary Green of Ozark, Missouri; Douglas Talbert and wife Mary; Linda Roberts and husband Marvin; Barbara White and husband Dale; and James Talbert all of Roswell, New Mexico. 14 grandchildren; Alan Knight and wife Patty of Nehauka NE, Mary Foote and husband James of West Columbia TX, Melanie Simpson and husband Jeff of Ozark, MO, James Green and wife Karen of Palmer, AK, Michael Green and wife Michelle of Maple Valley, WA, Pamela Krull of Roswell, NM, Kimberle Brickeen and husband Paul of Virginia Beach, VA, Brandy Talbert, Shenay Torres, Sandra Braziel and husband Chris, Shane White and wife Anna, all of Roswell, NM, Casie Talbert of Albuquerque, NM, CJ Conner and Robert Talbert of Farmington, NM. 22 Great grandchildren Jamie, Derrick, Kyle, Krislen, Aaron, Felicia, Devin, Jeffery, Dusty, Aaron, Katie, Samantha, Devon, Tabytha, Nathan, Shane, Nicolas, Halie, Cody, Woran, Jacob and Gracie. Brother James Causey Talbert and wife Carolyn of Pine Hurst, NC, and sisters Ruth Garner of Carthage, NC, Ruby Fowler and Virginia Betts of Sanford, NC. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Leonard worked as a licensed plumber at Clem Plumbing for 11 years and Master Plumber and and Building Manager for Roswell Petroleum Building for 26 years. He was a Veteran of the US Army. He was a deacon at BYKOTA Baptist Church and a member of Gideons International.
