BRICE, LEROY LESLIE ROY Age 84, passed away January 15, 2010 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Roy was born May 9, 1925 in El Well, Grachiot County, Michigan to William Chester and Lena Abbot Brice.
Roy enlisted in the United States Army initially serving as a Private 1st Class, Company G 333rd Infantry Regiment in 1943. Roy served in both World War II and in Korea and was a decorated officer, including having been the recipient of 2 Purple Heart Medals, Experienced Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, American Theater Ribbon, and EAME Theater Ribbon with a 3 Bronze Stars and was issued Lapel Buttons. Roy retired from and was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Captain having proudly served his country for 20 years.
Thereafter, Roy was employed in the banking industry as a Production Chief,
Roy and his first wife, Edith, had two children: Leroy Leslie Brice, II, and Candy Lee Brice.
Roy married Marilyn Eaton Leland on March 11, 1962 in El Paso, Texas. Roy and Marilyn had one daughter together, Stephanie Anne Brice Miller.
In addition, Roy helped raise Marilyns four other children: Charlton Chuck Harrison Leland Brice, Mikell Edwards Leland, Thomas Wendell Leland and Virginia Gina Leland Barnhart. Later, Chuck was granted a court order allowing him to use the last name Brice.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, William Chester Brice and Lena Abbot Brice, his sisters, Eloise Morrison and Virginia Brice and his son, Leroy Leslie Brice, II.
Roy is survived by his wife, Marilyn Eaton Brice, his brother, Donald Brice, his daughters, Stephany Anne Brice Miller and Candy Lee Brice Mellish, his grandchildren, Tammy Mellish, Carla Quarker, Virginia Miller Elder, Emerald Miller, Bryan Leroy Miller, Patrick Brice, Caitlen Brice, Aaron Leland and Jennifer Leland.
Roy was a member of the Roswell Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years devoutly serving his church and God.
A memorial service will be held at the Roswell Seventh Day Adventist
Church at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010 with Pastor Ken Davis Officiating.
Graveside Service for Roy will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, Texas on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. where Roy will be buried in Fort Bliss, Texas.
