Leroy Carroll Lang passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019. Leroy was 89 years old. LeRoy was born on August 10, 1930 to William Henry Lang and Emma Hertha Marie Tonns in Nelson, Nebraska.
LeRoy grew many crops over the years such as alfalfa, corn, oats, wheat and cotton. He was a member of the past organizations Southwest Irrigated Cotton Growers, Extraterritorial Zone Commission, Chaves County Zoning Commission, Chaves County Farm and Livestock Bureau, S. Eastern New Mexico State Fair Board, Roswell Community Counseling and Resource Board, Farmers Home Administration Board, NMSU Cotton Advisory Board, Chaves County Independent School District, and Farmers Inc. Gin from 1956 to 2001.
Leroy was a member of Christ's Lutheran Church Davenport, Nebraska, and was a member of First Baptist Church here in Roswell, NM since 1953.
In Leroy's younger years he was a member of the East Grand Plains Fire Department, and East Grand Plains Lions Club. Leroy joined the Air Force in 1951. He was stationed at walker Air Force Base from 1952 to 1954. He met his wife, Billie Arlene Sterrett while stationed in Roswell, NM., and married on June 3rd 1953. Billie survives him at the family home.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Lang, brother, Raymond Lang, and son, Richard Lang.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife Billie A. Lang., and his daughter Jeri Lang Hilley. grandchildren, Jeremiah Hilley, Naomi Hilley, Patricia Lang Keith of Clyde, TX., Pamela Lang Smith of Clyde, TX. Son-In-Law, Terry Hilley. Sisters, Violet Ferebee of Oak, NE., Irene Anderson of Overton, NE., and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Davis of Clyde, TX.
Serving at pallbearers, Kenneth Jennings, Doug Whitney, Harold Hobson, Bill McKnight, Bob Phillips, Monty Baker, Terry Hilley, Jeremiah Hilley. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Sterrett, Mark Sterrett, George Ferebee, Charlie Davis, Joseph Keith, Chuck Coll, Larry Hobson, John Frerbee, Mike Anderson.
A visitation will be held at LaGrone Funeral Chapel at 8:00AM until 5:00PM, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at First Baptist Church. With Pastor Aaron Colyer officiating.
