Lillian Jones

JONES, LILLIAN B.- Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Palmcroft Baptist Church in Phoenix, AZ. Pastor Neal Bowman of Palmcroft Baptist Church will officiate with interment at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.

Lillian Jones of Roswell, NM passed away on January 15, 2009 in her apartment at Villa Del Rey. She is survived by her three children: Jannifer DeGroot and her husband Pete of Roswell, NM, Chuck Jones and his wife Vivian of Fort Bragg, CA, and Joyce Miller and her husband Keith of Colonial Beach, VA. She was blessed with ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Born Lillian Carpenter on January 16, 1915, she was raised in the mountains of Kentucky. After her years in a small one-room school, she traveled to Tucson, AZ, to attend University of Arizona. She met and married Charles Lakin Jones, and the two settled in Phoenix to raise three children and operate a music store. Charles passed away in 1969, and Lillian remained in Phoenix until 2006, when she moved to Roswell to be near family.

Lillian was intelligent, independent of spirit, and devoted to her Lord. Outside of her faith and family, her greatest commitment was to Palmcroft Baptist Church in Arizona, where she was a member for sixty-two years and where she volunteered countless hours of service. She was especially active in various aspects of the churchs music program, and she will be remembered fondly for her habitual singing or humming of hymns. She now resides with her Savior.
