Linda Stone

Linda DArcy Stone passed away August 7, 2008 in Roswell, New Mexico after a long illness, and unsuccessful heart by-pass surgery. She was born September 7, 1939 in Weatherford, Texas, and at an early age moved with her parents, Dan and Louise DArcy and older sister Donna, to Stephenville, Texas where, for many years the DArcys owned and operated the Service Rexall Drug Store.

Linda attended Tarleton State Junior College and graduated from the University of Texas with a business and teaching degree.

She married Barry Stone on June 3, 1960 and lived in Austin, Texas while Barry attended University of Texas Law School. Upon graduation, the Stones moved to Amarillo, Texas where Mr. Stone practiced law until he retired in 2003.

The Stones then moved to Roswell, New Mexico when Barry opened the Roswell National Bank, a branch of the James Polk Stone National Bank, of which he is Chairman of the Board. Linda was a member of First United Methodist Church in Roswell. She is survived by Barry, her husband, two children Doug and Deanna, and three grandchildren Lauren, Derek, and Highland, and her sister Donna, Mrs. A.R. Pearcy of Olney, Texas.

A graveside ceremony will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 2:00 PM in Miami, Texas where the maternal side of Barrys family has resided since the 1880s.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Conquistador Council, Boy Scouts of America, Roswell, New Mexico.
