Lorene Busby Link Terry GroganBRLorene Grogan, 99, passed away Monday, March 2, 2009, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. She was born to Joseph Reuben and Esther Sandridge Busby Sept. 16, 1909, in Wilson, Okla.BRBRShe married Louie Glen Link Dec. 25, 1938. He passed away Feb. 16, 1957. The couple had three children, Louie Bernard Bernie Link and Barbara Mikesell, of Roswell, and Esther Joy Link Wicklin.BRBRLouie and Lorene owned a grocery store in Roswell. Lorene had her own beauty shop and Niblack Weight Loss System in Roswell. She was a member of Eastern Star and Senior Circle. BRBRLorene married Ray Terry, but after three years, Ray died of a heart attack. BRBRLorene and Wayne Grogan were married July 31, 1965, but after 33 years, Wayne passed away Feb. 2, 1999.BRBRShe had three sisters, Jewel Dement and husband, Millard, Myrtle Haragan and husband, Willard, and Ilona Oglesby and husband, Byron; two brothers, Reuben Earl Busby and Leslie Dow Busby; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Coppin Busby, who preceded her in death. Her daughter, Joy Wicklin, and Joy's husband, Mike, also preceded her in death. BRBRLorene is survived by her son, Bernie and his wife, Kathi, of Roswell; her daughter, Barbara Mikesell, of Roswell; grandchildren, Monica Link Rhodes and husband, Michael, of Tucson, Ariz., Louie Glen Link II and wife, Jen, of Washington, Lori Mitchell and husband, Terry, of Albuquerque, Cindy Neatherlin and Mark Neatherlin and wife, Cass, all of Roswell; nieces Patricia Dement and Teresa Halfen and husband, Billy, of Morgan City, La., Wanda Sue Ratcliff and husband, Roy, of Dexter, and Rosemary Darrough and husband, Jack of Oklahoma; nephew, Bart Oglesby, and wife, Marcy, of El Paso, Leslie Busby, of Carlsbad, and Jimmy Busby, of California; and two great-grandchildren, Shane and Melanie Mitchell. She is also survived by many loving great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and extended family.BRBRServices for Lorene will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Brother Onsy Whicker and the Rev. Gary Miller officiating, followed by a graveside service at South Park. Lorene was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for more than 30 years. She asked that church members sing Blessed Jesus Hold My Hand and Nearer My God to Thee. Tom Blake will sing He Touched Me and The Old Rugged Cross. BRBRPallbearers will be Leslie Busby, Roy Ratcliff, Bart Oglesby, Bill Davis, C.W. Hamilton and Melvin Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Fletcher and Jack Darrough. Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church Bus Ministry. BRBRLorene was an exceptional woman with a deep love for God, her family and many special friends. Her strength and faith were an inspiration to us all. She was a terrific prayer warrior.BRBRThe family would like to thank the staff at Mission Arch, Dr. Robert Rader and the nurses and staff at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion.
