RHODES, LORENEMemorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 10, 2007 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Lorene Rhodes, age 83, of Roswell, who passed away May 06, 2007. Rev. Robert Holcomb of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Lorene was born January 15, 1924 in Abbott, New Mexico to Marion and Ada Wood Cash. They have preceded her in death as well as a son Thomas Cash, three brothers and one infant brother.
Lorene married Thomas Rhodes on May 11, 1944 in Raton, New Mexico. He survives her at the family home.
She is also survived by a son Robert Rhodes and his wife Karen of Hobbs, New Mexico, a granddaughter: Jennifer OBerry and her husband Michael of Roswell; three great grandchildren: Danielle, Christopher and David OBerry of Roswell.
Lorene was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family and all who knew her. Although she spent many hours with her family, she had a lifelong dedication to art, both in painting and in creating a desire for art in young students. After graduating from West Texas University, she became active with many organizations fostering art and related activities. On retirement Lorene and Tommy moved to Cave Creek, Arizona, where they were active in the church and the local rock club. After moving to Roswell in 1999 and, although retired, she worked with the Academy, a local private school, teaching art to all ages but loved and was loved by the youngest of students.
Lorene was a member of the First Baptist church of Roswell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home of Portales, New Mexico.
