Graveside services are scheduled for 11am on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Memory Lawn Memorial Park for Lou Olive Ollie Humble Salman, age 92, of Albuquerque, who passed away on July 17, 2013. Richard Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends at LaGrone Funeral Chapel from 35pm on Sunday, July 21, 2013.
Ollie was born on June 24, 1921 in Roswell, New Mexico to John Jack Carter Humble and Lillie Gertrude Rogers Humble. After graduating high school Lou attended Roswell Business School and afterwards worked at a lumber company. She then went into Civil Service and worked at the supply department at Walker AFB. From there, she joined the Nurse Cadet Corps and went to New Orleans for nurses training at Charity Hospital from 1943 to 1946.
She then married, had two children and moved to Littlefield, TX. From there, the family moved to Clovis, NM in 1964 where she continued her nursing career at Clovis Highplains Hospital until 1997. Lou was a member of Sandia Baptist Church up until the time she moved to Albuquerque to live with her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father brothers: Cordell, Jack, Donald, and Eugene and sisters Daisy, Juanita, Zonell and Betty.
Survivors include a daughter Karen Gikas of Albuquerque, a son Richard Salman and wife Jane of St. Louis, and two grandchildren Joseph Salman of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky granddaughter Laura Salman and Chris Boemler fiance St. Louis.
