DIXON, LOUIS LORENZO Funeral services are scheduled for 9:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Louis Lorenzo Dixon, age 85, of Roswell who passed away June 6, 2013 who was surrounded by his loved ones. Pastor Barbara Norfor with New Life Church of Roswell and Pastor Rheuben Dixon Sr. with Gods Messenger Christian Faith Center will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
Louis was born in Waco, TX on November 30, 1927 to Louis Dixon Sr. and Ida Mae Dixon. They have preceded him in death as well as a daughter Ida Marie Dixon, brothers, Joe, George and James Dixon, Sisters Betsy William, Lula Dixon, mother inlaw Luerenzie Singleton and a grandson, Tyrone.
Louis married Mary Singleton on June 21, 1967 in Slaton, TX, she survives him at the family home.
Louis is survived by children: Alicia and her husband Danny Wiley, Eddie Eugene, Louis Dixon, III and his wife Annette, Pastor Rheuben Dixon Sr. and his wife Debra, Joycelyn Dixon father inlaw: Lonzie Singleton grandchildren: Rosemary, Shante, Rheulon, E.J.. Rheuben Jr. and his wife Shannon, Rheushaun, Kimberly and her husband Diontea, Devaughn, James and Essence great grandchildren: Adriana, Ariana, ZaNaya, Chloe, Rheuben III, Devin, Zoey, Renee, Jordan, Azai, Tre Anthony, Kendra, Kayla, Zachary, Zeenah, Keith Isaiah, Amaya and
Kameron A host of nieces, nephews other inlaws and friends.
Louis Dixon was baptized in Jesus name and received the Holy Ghost at Emmanuel Gospel Church in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was a faithful member of Gods Messenger Christian Faith Center and was a Sunday School Teacher until his eyes grew dim. Then he became a student with a larger printed book. The highlights of Sundays was when he arrived to church to hear the word of God. He loved watching the youth grow up to be adults and he will be greatly missed by all. He was a veteran of the Army. Louis was also a Sheriff. Louis always looked forward to his grandchildren calling him. He was a great problem solver for his grandchildren. He was an excellent cook and loved to cook for family and friends, he didnt share his secret recipe of his Chestnut Pie. He loved serving others.
Pallbearers will be Deacon Danny Mendiola, Joseph Mendiola, Diontea Wright, Ray Green, Allen Singleton, Clarence Cheadle, Curtis Singleton and Louis Dixon III. Honorary Pallbearers are Lonzie Singleton, Rheuben Dixon Jr, Rheulon Dixon, Rheushaun Dixon, Edward Ingram, James Dixon, and Devaughn Dixon
