PADILLA, LOUIS G. Memorial graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at Capitan Cemetery for Louis G. Padilla, age 73, who passed away Jan. 11, 2011 after a long illness. Pastor Beverley Sills of the Ranchman River of Life Church will officiate.
Louie, as he was affectionally known to his numerous friends, was born on Feb. 24, 1937 in Carrizozo, NM to Louis Z. and Bertha Padilla. They both preceded him in death, as did a brother, Cruz.
Louie is survived by a daughter: Theresa Padilla of Albuquerque, NM brother: Charles E. Padilla and wife Elena of Ruidoso, NM sisters: Gerry Greenwood and husband Walter of Hobbs, NM Helen Jobe and husband Steve of Roswell and Debbie Padilla of Boulder, CO three grandchildren, Sandi, Diamond, Tamara and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Antonia two nieces Andrea Padilla, husband Gerardo and son Christian of Santiago, Chile, and Kim Henry, husband Scott and daughter Lauren and son Eric of Devils Lake, ND.
Louie was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a microwave communications technician in Japan in the late 1950s. After working in California and Nevada for several years, Louie returned to Capitan and worked as an accountant at Fort Stanton. Upon retiring, he worked and later volunteered his services at the Capitan Head Start program, as well as working with local senior citizens and participating in civic events in Capitan and Lincoln County.
Following the graveside services, a coffeeandcake reception will be held at the Christ Community Fellowship in Capitan, located just west of the Capitan High School.
