DUVALL, LOUISE M. -- A Memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Trinity United Methodist Church, for Louise M. Duvall, age 92, who passed away August 16, 2006, following a lengthy illness, at her home. Cecil Kimberlin, Vista Care Chaplain and Rev. Dr. Ruth Fowler will conduct the services.
Louise was
born June 12, 1914 in her parents home in East Grand Plains. She was preceded in death by her parents, E. R. Duvall and Charlotte Reidel Duvall, and her brother Russell R. Duvall.
She is survived by her Sister-in-law, Rosemary Duvall and two nieces, Patty Long and Barbara Hamlett, all of Pasadena, Texas. Other survivors include cousins, Jay Alan Duvall of Belton, Texas, Beverly Wagner and Mary Louise Long of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Vicky Reidel of Waukegan, Illinois, very close friends and long-time helpers, Rita Sanchez, Dorothy Herring and Betty Martin. Also, Jan Runyan, special care-giver, the compassionate employees of Vista Care Hospice, the kind employees of Comfort Keepers and many close friends from Trinity United Methodist Church.
Louise was reared at East Grand Plains where she attended East Grand Plains Elementary School and graduated from Roswell High School. She received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Western New Mexico University at Silver City. Louise retired from the Roswell Independent School District after 36 years, teaching Pre-First, Head Start and First Grades.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was instrumental in forming the Trinity Day School and was a member of many womens groups in her church. She was a docent at the Roswell Museum and Art Center and at the Historical Society for
Southeast New Mexico where she donated numerous contributions of significant historical value. She loved gardening, cooking and entertaining friends and was a real work-aholic. Her friends sometimes called her Miss Do-all.
Louise excelled in fancy-work of many kinds, including embroidery, tatting, and cross-stitch. She made it a priority to help others. She was so appreciative of all the things friends did for her these last few years as her health was failing. Louise will be greatly missed.
Memorial gifts may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Historical Society of Southeast New Mexico or Vista Care Hospice.
