ORRISON, LOWELL E. - Lowell E. Orrison passed away on September 25, 2016 in Roswell, NM. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday September 30, 2016 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Pastor Bob Williams of First Presbyterian Church will be officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will take place at the Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM.
Lowell was born May 26, 1911 in El Paso, Texas to John W. Orrison and Jessie V. Orrison. His parents preceded him in death as well as his first wife, Margaret (Margo) Orrison of 44 years. Helen Riley Orrison his second wife of 25 years also preceded his death.
He is survived by Niece Judith Hansel of Roseville, CA, Stepson William Patrick Riley, III, his wife Amber and step daughter Kelsey of Colorado Springs, CO, Sister in law Rita Pritchard of Roswell, Nephew Guy Pritchard, wife Glenda and family of Amarillo, TX, Nephew Stuart Pritchard, wife Lois and family of Newport, OR, Nephew Kim Pritchard and wife Helen and family of Roswell, Nephew Wallace (Wally) Wilson of Roswell, Niece Mary Lou Wilson of Greenwood, SC and several other nieces, nephews and relatives.
Lowell graduated from El Paso High School, attended the school of Mines in El Paso now (UTEP) for two years, then he moved to Albuquerque, NM to attend the University of New Mexico where he graduated. He was in the accounting field when he enlisted in the US Air Force and served over three years in World War II. After returning to Albuquerque, he entered into the car business and then the Life Insurance Field. In 1951, he moved to Roswell as District Manager of Equitable Life Assurance Society until his retirement. Since retirement, he enjoyed all sports, reading, playing cards, traveling to golf resorts with a group of golfing friends in various states.
He was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Roswell, had been a member of various Civic & Fraternal Clubs and a Life Time Member of the Elks Lodge. Lowell was born before New Mexico became a state and lived through World War I and II, along with countless other historical events of the 20th century.
Lowell will truly be missed by his family and friends. Anyone who met him knows he was quite memorable. He was one of the smartest men you would ever meet, and still enjoyed eating out with family, enjoying a margarita, talking current events and watching football and golf.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque, NM. Should friends desire a memorial contribution, please make it to your favorite charity.
Pallbearers will be Genero Gaytan, Wayne Glass, David Keith, Jeff Murphey, Billy Ray, Dr. Frank Schwartz, and Doug Weiser.
