Lucile Ford

LUCILE CATHRYN KIRSCH FORDSurrounded by the love and care of her family, Lucile passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Friday afternoon, March l5th.
Lucile was born to Louis Carl Kirsch and Pearl Tanquary Kirsch in Evansville, Indiana, January 14th, l925. Her parents and her brother, Charles, preceded her in death. An accomplished musician, she played the piano, organ, harp and violin, winning state awards in high school. Graduating from Bosse High School in Evansville, she pursued her love of languages, both German and Spanish, by Attending DePauw University, Indiana University, the University of Texas and The University of Mexico in Mexico City. Completing her Masters Degree in Austin, she worked as a translator for MeadJohnson, and taught Spanish and German in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, Texas. She married Douglas Walsh Ford, August l8, l948. He preceded her in death in l990.
She moved to Roswell to be closer to her four children and grandchildren. An avid reader, and international traveler, she visited many countries around the world. She was active in Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a regent for the local chapter. She was a lifetime member of Zeta Tau Alpha, Sons of the American Revolution, an investment club, bridge, politics, Bible classes and the First United Methodist Church. At the time of her death, she was a resident of LaVilla Assisted Living Center.
She is survived by her four children: Kay Vasquez and her husband, Santiago of Roswell, Jeff and Cookie Ford, of Colorado Spring, Colorado, Pat and Ronnie Miles of Roswell and Pierce T. Ford of Albuquerque. Her legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Katie and Nic Ferrington and their daughter, Harper, Christi and Tim Schwalk and their daughter, Kenley, David Ford, Cameron Cox and his wife, Mandy, Pierce Ford, Jamie Ford, Preston Miles, Kelsey Miles, and Ryan Ford.
Memorial services will be held in the Sun Room at La Villa Assisted Living, Sunday, March l7, 2013 at l:00 P.M. As per her wishes, she will be laid to rest next to her parents in Indiana at a later date.
