Margaret Kirk

Margaret Kirk, age 94, of Roswell passed away Friday February 17, 2017. A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Jason Perry of Tabernacle Baptist Church will be officiating.

Margaret Watkins Kirk was born November 29, 1923 in Bono, Arkansas. She was the youngest of 13 children, the daughter of Luther and Susan Watkins. Her father was a Baptist preacher who instilled in her the love of Christ and the church.

Margaret married James M (Jim) Kirk in February of 1940. They had three children, Nancy Sue, Tom and Bill. The family moved to Clovis, New Mexico in 1949 in order to live in a dry climate for Jim's health. The family moved to Roswell in 1960.

Margaret was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist church from 1960 until her death. She read her bible daily and taught the Bible to her children. She was known as a faithful prayer warrior.

Margaret worked in the food industry and then in retail and later managed Ms. Bears Craft store for her daughter Nancy.

She is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Susan Watkins, her husband James M (Jim) Kirk, her daughter Nancy Sue Long, and her 12 siblings.

Margaret is survived by her sons Tom Kirk and Bill Kirk, grand children Jamie Long, Robert Kirk, Amy Skiver, Kristy Arviso and Kirk Nicklaus, six great grand children and five great great grand children.

Margaret's family would like to extend their gratitude to Jean Dunn and Mike Haggerty for their loving care and support of Margaret over the past few years.
Margaret spent her life trying to get to heaven and her journey is complete.
