WATKINS, MARIDETH SHERRELL Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, for Marideth S. Watkins, age 92, of Roswell, who passed away April 3, 2010 at a local nursing home. Rev. Matt Brooks of the First Baptist Church will conduct the service. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Marideth was born December 8, 1917 in Ada, Oklahoma to John William and Ethel Howell Sherrell. She moved to Roswell with her family in 1929 where she resided the rest of her life. She was predeceased by her parents, and three brothers, Luther Sherrell, Floyd Sherrell and Wilbur Sherrell.

Marideth is survived by her husband of 72 years, Brad Watkins, and their three children: Barbara Rizzo and her husband, George of Roswell, Travis Brad Watkins, Jr. and his wife Sharon of the Woodlands, TX, and Stanley Watkins and his wife Rozetta of Phoenix, AZ. She leaves four granddaughters, one grandson, seven stepgrandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.

She was active in several organizations. She was a 70 year member of the First Baptist church of Roswell, was a sixty year member of the Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron she was a charter member and past president of the Social Order of the Beauceant past Mother Advisor of the the Order of Rainbow for Girls a charter member of the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Auxilliary, a former member of Roswell Womans Club, Wednesday Book Club and Home Garden Club. She was active in the Chapter K, PEO since 1976. She was a productive artist, doing oil and water color paintings, and was a member of the Roswell Art League and the Roswell Easel Club.

After her husband, Brad, retired, they enjoyed many years traveling by motorhome across the US. Many trips abroad were also very much enjoyed by the couple, and their close friends.
