FOSTER, MARIE- Our beloved mother, Marie Foster, 94, left for heaven on January 30, 2019 in Lubbock, TX, after a short illness. She was surrounded and supported by many family members when she gained her angel wings.
Marie was born in Dimmitt, TX on December 11, 1924 to Scott and Mattie Crum. She grew up in a farm and ranching home, riding her horses to visit cousins and friends. Her "cowgirl" mental attitude enabled her to deal with the many challenges of life.
Prior to WWII, in Amarillo, TX, she met the love of her life, John Foster, who was a B-17 pilot. They were married after the war, and began to raise a family of 6 children. After her husband graduated from UND in Grand Forks, North Dakota, they made their way west. This eventually ended by landing in Roswell, where he taught at NMMI.
During this time, our mother was a superb "master" homemaker, managing the schedules and lives of all who were under her care. Many extra mouths were present for her renowned cooking. Holiday invitations were especially sought after. All her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always remember her strong values and the priority of achieving the best you can be as a person.
Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Foster; parents, Scott and Mattie Crum; brother, Cecil Crum; children, James and Sandra Foster; and grandson, Phillip Carmen.
Those left to cherish her memory are children, Della (Tom) Williams; Rosa Chavez; Joy (Sammy) Pearce; and John Foster Jr.; Grandchildren, Keeley (Wes) Ehlers; Tyler (Sherry) Prince; Stacia Pearce; Logan Williams; and Dr. Lindsey Pearce. Surviving great-grandchildren, Haylee Gonzalez, Leylah Prince, Luke Ehlers, and Khloe Maidment. Also, very special nephew, Gail (Peggy) Crum and children.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the "Cowboy Bell Fund" at First United Methodist Church in Roswell, NM; or charity of your choice may be made in honor of her name, Marie Foster.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, Roswell, NM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery with John Fuss officiating.
