Marie Lynch

Marie Rose Lynch passed away Tuesday April 26, 2011. She is survived by her children Tim Becky Lynch of Roswell and Patty Gar Thornton of Shelton, Washington. She is also survived by granddaughters Carissa TinaLynch, Nikki Craig Duran, Cybil Lynch, and Amy Thornton. She is also survived by greatgrandchildren Noah and Hailey Lynch, Kelsie, Kirsten, Kaylen, Karly, Renden and Madisen Duran and Brittany and Christopher Lynch.

Marie was born October 14, 1920 and raised in Chester, Pennsylvania. Upon entering the military service she met and married Elbert Dale Lynch. Soon after their marriage, Marie took an honorable discharge from the service in order to pursue her true passion being a mother. While she was employed parttime at the school cafeteria throughout her working years and retired from the Roswell Independent School District, she considered her children and her grandchildren her main job and focus. There were many years where swings, bicycles, dolls and sidewalk chalk were a permanent fixture in the Lynchs front and back yards. On any given occasion, one could find her holding or rocking grandbabies to sleep and many observed the sign on the door that said Please knock. Grandma and baby are sleeping

Marie was a faithful friend to many and was often times the helping hand counted on by the elderly or disabled in Roswell whether it was babysitting, running errands for those who no longer drove, or simply giving a hair cut or perm. She loved to sit and visit and enjoy a cup of coffee while talking about the events of the time or reminiscing about the past.

Maries artistic talents were enjoyed by many. Her house was a part of many Roswellites Christmas Lights tour and she was asked numerous times if a picture of her beautifully decorated home could be taken and kept by delighted passerby.

A memorial service will be held Monday May 2 at 2:00 pm at St. Peter Catholic Church where Marie was a member f or over 60 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children Research Hospital 18008226344, www.stjude.org.
