KELLEY MARION B. Services are scheduled in China, Texas for Marion B. Kelley of Roswell who passed away as a result of pancreatic cancer on January 2, 2012, with her daughter by her side. She attended Grace Community Church.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in China, TX. Interment will follow at the China Cemetery.
Marion was born on January 22, 1933 to Athanase and Mary Benoit in Gueydan, LA. She was the baby of 17 children. Marions mother passed away within hours of her birth. Because Marion is a Christian, she is meeting her mother for the first time.
In 1950, she married Ernest Borque and they made their home in China, TX. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was a homemaker for many years before moving to Louisiana for work. There she met and married Patrick V. Kelley. He also preceded her in death in 2010.
She is survived by her daughter Rhonda B. Johnson and her husband Stever of Roswell, NM, and a son Christopher and his wife Tammy of Manchester, TN. She was given her favorite name, Nonnie, by her grandson Steele Houston Johnson who is currently attending the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. With blended families, Marion is also survived by a granddaughter Vanessa and her husband Brian and their daughters Ilyssa and Illeana, also of Tennessee Jay and Jennifer Johnson and their children Dilan, Kaitlin, Kylee, and Danielle of Junction, TX Jodi and Benton Murphy and their daughter Sara of Garland, TX.
As the baby of 17 children, 13 of her siblings preceded her in death. Surviving siblings are a sister, Hilda Mercantel of Houston, TX and brothers Percy Benoit of Orangefield, TX and Athanase Benoit, Jr. of Bridge City, TX. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
