Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the sanctuary of Valley Christian Academy for Marjorie Pinson, age 94, of Roswell who passed away on September 19, 2013. Rev. Tim Arlet will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.
Marjorie was born in rural Johnson County, Missouri on March 3, 1919 to
Howard Ring and Anna Jean Ryland. They have preceded her in death as well as her husband James C. Pinson.
On August 8, 1943, Marjorie married J.C. Pinson in Warrensburg, Missouri and moved to Roswell where J.C. was stationed at the Air Base. J.C. and Marjorie lived their entire married life in Roswell. They raised two children, Jim Pinson and Jean Pinson Madere. J.C passed away in 1999.
Marjorie was a teacher. She received her teaching degree at Central Missouri State Teachers College later renamed to University of Central Missouri. She started her teaching career in Lafayette County Missouri teaching in one room schools which contained 1st through 8th grades. After moving to Roswell in 1943, Marjorie taught first at Mark Howell and later at Missouri Avenue schools. She retired in 1982 after a combined 33 years of teaching.
Marjorie was a member of the First Christian Church of Roswell since coming to Roswell. She taught Sunday School for many years. Until shortly before her death she regularly provided goods and support from the womens group to Assurance Home and the Refuge.
Marjorie is survived by her two children, and three Grandchildren, Amy Madere, Robin Pinson, and James Madere.
