POLLARD, MARVELL Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at 10:30 AM, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Marvell Pollard who passed away Friday, October 19, 2007 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Pastor Onsy Whicker of Tabernacle Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park.
Marvell was born on May 23, 1922 in Weber Falls, Oklahoma to Fred Evans and Grace Garrett Evans. Her parents preceded her in death.
Marvell was one of eight children and grew up near Skiatook, Oklahoma. She and Raymond Pollard were married February 10, 1940 in Clairemore, Oklahoma. During WWII, Marvell worked at Douglas Aircraft as a riveter. In 1945, she and Raymond moved to Roswell. Together they established Raymond Pollard Dairy in 1954. Marvell worked with Raymond at the dairy until their retirement.
Marvell is survived by Raymond, her husband of 67 years, daughter Carolyn Pollard Noling and husband, W. Ray Noling, and grandson, Raymond Alan Burns, of Roswell. She is also survived by sister Kathryn Schuler, and brothers Lloyd Evans and Johnny Evans Louise of California. In addition, Marvell is survived by brothers-in-law Clarence Pollard, Thelbert Pollard Juanita, Condell Pollard Gladys, and Ralph Pollard Helen, sisters-in-law Bertha Ennis, Faye Collins and Juanita Whitaker, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by sisters Vivian Johnson, Overine Johnson, Vera Wingi and Gloria Watts.
Marvell lived in Roswell for 62 years. During that time, she worked with husband Raymond at their dairy and maintained the home for their family. Marvell was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Marvell was a loving mother and grandmother. Grandson Ray held a special place in her heart. Her extended family loved visiting and reminiscing with her about growing up in Oklahoma and life during those hard times of the Depression and the war years.
