Marvin Sanders Griffin was born Nov 7, 1934, in Sulphur Springs TX to John William and Rose Ella Blount Griffin. Marvin, who was a caring husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior this past Saturday, August 24, 2024, at age 89.
Marvin married his sweetheart Jerry Lee Gressett on June 20, 1958. Together they enjoyed 66 wonderful years of married life and two precious children, Phillip and Nancelie.
Along with being a faithful family man, Marvin was a joyful servant in his career and in the community. He spent nearly fifty years as a mechanical contractor with Rhoads Co., serving with excellence in both Roswell and Albuquerque. Outside of the home and office, he used his talents and know-how in construction to create many projects for those in need. Along with using his gift of being a skilled craftsman, he also joyfully encouraged and spoke life into anyone he encountered. Whether it was at church, where he served on the board for many years, or at Teen Challenge, he had a remarkable ability to be a friend to everyone he met, opening the door for him to speak truth and encouragement along with some fantastic storytelling that was certain to bring a smile to every face he encountered.
Marvin was preceded in death by his father and mother, John William and Rose Ella, his mother and father-in-law, Jim and Beatrice Gressett, his son, Phillip Marvin Griffin, son-in-law, Gary Pack and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jerry Griffin, daughter, Nance Pack, three grandsons and their wives, Logan & Michelle Pack and their children, Sophie and Harper, Caleb & Grace Pack and their son, Jedidiah, and Lyric Pack, brothers-in-law and their wives, David and Wanda Gressett, Bill and Sharon Gressett and many nieces and nephews.
