Marvin Jaquess

RANDY JAQUESS- Marvin Randall "Randy" Jaquess left this world for eternity on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at his home in Roswell, NM. Randy was born on December 2, 1942 in Earth, TX, the 3rd of 7 children born to Curtis G. and Beulah B. Jaquess. Curtis was a carpenter, building many houses in the area with his brothers, and Beulah was a homemaker. The family lived in Earth, and Randy attended Spring Lake schools until he was in the 7th grade when the family moved to Roswell. Randy loved his family dearly and loved to tell stories of their youth, he always joked that in his family there were 6 brothers and each of them had a sister. There was always love and laugh-ter at family get togethers. He enjoyed playing cards with his brothers and being with each and eve-ry one of his siblings and their families.

In Roswell, Randy attended Yucca Junior High and Roswell High School, graduating in 1960. In late 1960 his dear friend Larry Witt, introduced him to the love of his life, Brenda Tal Johnson. They were married on August 12, 1962, and were blessed with two children, Randle Brent Jaquess born February 1, 1964 , and Kimberly Dawn Jaquess born March 29, 1965. Randy was a member of the National Guard, he worked building and roofing houses, owned and operated "Grandy's Woodworks", an unfinished furniture store, and later worked as a building inspector for Chaves County. He retired in 2008 and he spent his time caring for his great-grandchildren, taking them on camping trips. He and Brenda also had the opportunity to travel, they enjoyed many trips abroad together, and they also enjoyed taking many cruises with their dear friends O'Dell and Lavonne Farr.
Randy was a great father, he supported his children in all of their endeavors, he especially enjoyed watching Brent coach football, and was always his team's biggest fan. Randy deeply loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they lovingly referred to him as "Grandy" and they each enjoyed a deep and meaningful relationship with him, he never failed to let them know how much he loved them, and how proud of them he was.

Randy was an Elder at West Alameda Church of Christ where he had been a member for 56 years. He will forever be remembered for his positivity, his kindness and humility, and his generous na-ture. He always had a smile and a hug for everyone he met. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. He set a great exam-ple of Christian living for all who knew him. He was a hard worker and instilled that work ethic into his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he was especially devoted to working hard in the service of others.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis G. and Beulah B. Jaquess, his brothers Jerry Jaquess, and Larry Jaquess, his father-in-law Talmadge Johnson, his mother-in-law Nola Johnson, and a nephew Jody Jaquess.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years Brenda Tal Jaquess, his son and daugh-ter-in-law Randle Brent and Rebecca Jaquess of Las Cruces, his daughter and son-in-law Kimberly Dawn and Stephen Crosby of Vail, Arizona, his grandchildren Brittaney Ann Crosby of Roswell, NM, Betsy Leigh Crosby of Bagdad, AZ, Jaye Patrick Jaquess of Las Cruces, NM, Katherine Nicole Crosby of Vail, AZ, Jessica Amanda Crosby of Scottsdale, AZ, and PFC Matthew Randall Franklin Crosby of Ft. Bliss, TX; his great grandchildren Kayson Crosby Best, Hailee Grace Best, Jonathan Stephen Best, Brett Lee Ireland, Trevor Sean Dawes, Amy Dawn Ireland, Stephen Randall Franklin Dawes, and Everett Jaye Jaquess; His brother and sister in law Pete and Berta Jaquess of El Cajon, Ca, his sister and brother in-law Carolyn and Jim Douglas of Ruidoso, NM, his brother and sister-in-law Virgil and Ann Jaquess of Roswell, NM, his brother and sister in- law John and Janet Jaquess of Las Cruces, NM; His brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Wesley and Carrie Johnson of Port Lavaca, TX, Mickey and Mary Johnson of Tucson, AZ, Karla and Mike Ridings of San Anto-nio, TX; along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. We were all truly blessed to have known him and are overcome with gratitude for the impact he had on our lives.

Funeral Services have been scheduled for Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 1:00 pm at West Alameda Church of Christ, with internment at South Park Cemetery to follow.
In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Christian Children's Home 1356 NM-236, Portales, NM 88130.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ash, Randy Maguire, FNP, Dr. Gebremedihn, and all the other doctors, nurses, and staff that helped with his care, special thanks to Kristi with Advanced Homecare for providing care to him at home. The family would also like to issue special thanks to Douglas and the staff at LaGrone Funeral Chapels for your compassionate and caring service in helping us with the arrangements during this difficult time.
