Family and friends are invited to a get together after the graveside service at the Eagles Lodge, 3201 S. Sunset.
Margie was born September 27, 1925 in Milburn, Oklahoma to Lum and Callie Taylor. They have preceded her in death as well as husbands Fred West and Connie Sparkman.
Margie is survived by a son: Fred West: four daughters: Linda A. Gilmore, LaNell Dietz and her husband Gunner, Barbara West all of Roswell and Elaine Belue of Albuquerque brother: Theodour Taylor of Lawton, Oklahoma sister: Belva Scroggins of Tennessee grandchildren: Earl Purcella of Roswell, Stephen Purcella of Hereford, TX, Robert and Richard Montgomery of Houston, TX, Rene Martinez of Albuquerque, Carla Wiltock of Roswell and Teresa Lykins great grandchildren: Amanda and Bryce Purcella, Holden Lykins, Zoe Lykins of Roswell, Allie Reigh Purcella of Herford, TX, and Luke Montgomery.

Margie enjoyed gardening, country western dancing, music, going to church. She enjoyed her kids and grandchildren. She participated in childhood rearing of her grandchildren, loved to remodel homes. Was a very hard worker and was always busy with something. She loved to cook and always had something ready to eat.

Margie was a nonjudgmental person. She once had a nick name of Sparkie because she loved to laugh and usually had a smile. She carried her six years old brother who had polio to school when she herself was 13 years old. She had many burdens to carry in this earthly life, including the last 20 years of her life with Alzehiemers. She found a job during the war as a seamstress in a laundry sewing rank and emblems on soldiers and officers uniforms at Ft. Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma where she lived until she married Fred. R. West in 1941.

She came to Roswell with 2 small children in 1945. Her father worked driving a cab back and forth from town to the Airbase. Her husband came shortly after. Margie lived in Roswell the rest of her life. She soon got a job at Cecils Restaurant until another child came. She was divorced in 1960. She worked at Sears in the customer service dept. and then at Wyles Drive In, and a number of other restaurants throughout the remainder of her life.

She remarried in 1969 to Connie Sparkman.

Her granddaughter Carla Whitock recounted a story when she and Margie were attempting to pull up a large tumbleweed. Carla said lets go inside its too hot out here. Margie said let me give this weed one more tug. The weed broke and she tumbled backwards two complete summersaults. That is the way she lived giving life one more tug.

The family wishes to thank Vista Care Hospice who assisted Linda Gilmore, RN with her last days of life.
