Maxine Kilness

MAXINE E. KILNESS Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday,, March 9, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Maxine Kilness of Roswell, who passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Pastor Daniel Praeuner will conduct the funeral services, and interment will follow the church service at South Park Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Lagrone Funeral Chapel.
Maxine was born August 03, 1919, in Commerce, Texas, to Edgar and Bertha Griffith Ledford. Maxine was married in l945 to Lt. Col. Kenneth Freeman Kilness who was stationed at Walker Air Force Base for 14 years. Col. Kilness preceded Maxine in death January 7, 2007 as did a son, Kenneth Lynn Kilness of Sierra Vista, Arizona, in l993. Three brothers, Glynn Ledford, James Ledford, and Robert Ledford also preceded Maxine in death.
Maxine is survived by one sister, Marcella Steinkuhler, of Rancho Mirage, California two daughters , Linda Kay Hansen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Beverly Jean Scaling of Las Cruces, New Mexico two sonsinlaw, James Hansen and Robert Scaling and one daughterinlaw Cherryl Kilness of Roswell and nine grandchildren, Kenneth Lon Kilness, Holly Kilness Packett, Heather Kilness Koonce, Lori Hendrex, Karen Johnson, Captain James Hansen II, Jordan Guadet, Allison Scaling, and Brennen Scaling and seven great grandchildren, Kenneth Matthew Kilness, Brittany Cloud, Austin Kilness, Mackenzie Hendrex, Allie Hendrex, Sebastian Gaudet, and Juliette Gaudet. She also has four great great grandchildren.
Maxine was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, participating in many bible studies and serving at Vacation Bible School for many years. She participated in the Officers Wives Club at Walker Air Force Base. Maxine was a member of the Ladies Service League of Roswell and helped with their thrift store for many years. Maxine worked in retail sales for C.R. Anthony and The Pampered Lady in Roswell. Maxine was most proud of all of her children and homemaking abilities. Maxine will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ed Osborn, Bud Kunkel, Kenny Kilness, Hugh Taylor, Gene Peterson and Steve Pack. Honorary pall bearers will be Morgan Nelson, Captain James Hansen II, Pete Kunkel, and Warren Kiess. The family wishes to thank the staff and many friends at Villa Del Rey Community, were Maxine resided the last six years, for the excellent care given to her and community life she so enjoyed. .
