Maxine Mcclain

MCCLAIN, MAXINE LOUISE Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 18, 2010 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Maxine Louise McClain, age 97, of Roswell who passed away on January 15, 2010. Rev. Jason Perry of Tabernacle Baptist Church will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Maxine was born on August 4, 1912 to Clyde and Gladys Watters, in Galesburg, Illinois.
They have preceded her in death as well as her brothers and sister, Robert, Richard, and Rollin Watters and Shirley Watters Lindberg.

Maxine married Carl Laverne McClain in Seattle, Washington on June 10, 1941. He has also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons: Lt. Col. Carl Robert McClain, USMC Retired and his wife Kathleen of Vista, CA Craig Lester McClain and his wife Debbie of El Paso, TX daughter Cathleen Tucker and her husband Bob of Roswell, NM her sister Joyce Louderman and her husband Gene of Galesburg, IL. grandchildren: Larry Tucker of Burlingame, CA Lori Housewright and her husband Rick of Lubbock, TX Lesli Clemmons and her husband Jason of Lubbock, TX Andrea McClain of Fort Knox, KY Sarah McClain Fowler and her husband Phillip of Indianapolis, IN great grandchildren: Rikki and Cameron Housewright, Jacob and Caitlin Clemmons and great greatgranddaughter Taylor Housewright.

Maxine graduated from Galesburg High in 1929 and then graduated from Knox College in 1939. She also attended the following colleges: Western Illinois University, University of Michigan, University of Iowa, Lombard College in Illinois, San Diego State University, Eastern New Mexico University and The University of Texas at El Paso. She taught nine years in Illinois, seven years in Roswell, and six years in El Paso. She retired in 1972. She was a member of the NARFE, a former member of Victory Club, and AAUW. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Jason Clemmons, Rick Housewright, Pete White, Larry Tucker, Cameron Housewright, and Tom Jennings.
