Morris Snow

SNOW, MORRIS HUGH Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, September 27, 2010, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, for Morris Hugh Snow, age 91, of Fountain Valley, CA, who passed away September 20, 2010. Doug Austin with Country Club Road Church of Christ will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery with Military Honors provided by The New Mexico National Guard.

Family will greet friends from 3:00 to 5:00 on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel.

Morris was born May 29, 1919 in Dallas, Texas, to John and Mary Murphy Snow. He moved to Roswell with his family at age 14 and held several jobs including working the soda counter at the local drug store before joining the National Guard. He served his country during World War II, receiving a battlefield commission, a Bronze Star, an Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart.

Morris married Audrey Wright on June 12, 1948 in Clovis, New Mexico. They lived together in Roswell where Morris was a bookkeeper for Savage Brothers Electric for 38 years. During his time in Roswell Morris was an active member of the Church of Christ, enjoyed planning reunions for his 804th tank destroyer battalion and playing guitar and mandolin with friends and family. Morris moved with Audrey to California at the end of 2004.

Morris is survived by his wife Audrey his two sons: Stephen E. Snow of Parker, KS and James H. Snow of Westminster, CA brother: Charles D. Snow of Canyon Lake, TX and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Margaret Hartley, Louise Morrison and Jane Shirkey.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Mexico Christian Childrens home, 1356 New Mexico 236, Portales, NM 88130.
